Marlow's Tavern Brings Ribs and Whiskey Back To The Table For Fall
Tuesday, September 28, 2010
Today I got The Dish in my inbox, which is something I look forward to every week because it sends me some great events and restaurant news straight to my inbox! But today, I saw something very exciting because one of my favorite Midtown restaurant Marlow's Tavern is bringing ribs and whiskey back to the table!
Seven saucy, stick-to-your-ribs selections and only five weeks to try them all . . . and that doesn't even include the sides and fire-quenching libations on the "Ribs & Whiskey" menu at all Marlow's Tavern locations! Pig out on these smokin' dishes and good old Southern sides through November 1. Fired-up plates of slow-cooked St. Louis-style Maker's Mark-glazed ribs by the half or full rack come decked out with soon-to-be-famous "two potato" potato salad, chili-slathered corn on the cob and a house-made sweet corn and jalapeño muffin to sop up your drips ($15/$21). There's plenty for the rib-shy diners in your group: Marlow's smoke-house flatbread is mounded with slow-roasted pulled pork doused in chipotle BBQ sauce with Pepper Jack cheese, vine-ripe tomato and crispy tobacco onions ($9); and for traditionalists, slow-roasted pulled pork melts into a buttery soft roll with "two potato" potato salad on the side ($9).
A chicken hankerin' calls for "Drunken Chicken" blazed with Maker's Mark and joined by grilled asparagus, Southern-fried mac and cheese and chili-slathered corn on the cob ($13); the BBQ Blazed Cobb salad where BBQ chicken is chillin' with crisp field greens, Roma tomatoes, apple-smoked bacon, sweet corn, Gorgonzola, crispy tobacco onions and BBQ Gorgonzola dressing ($11); or the "Kickin' Chicken" verde soup with fresh cilantro, roasted tomatillos, fall sweet corn and chili cream ($6). For indecisive diners, Marlow's "Ribs & Whiskey Hookup" pairs St. Louis-style Maker's Mark-glazed ribs with "Drunken Chicken" and all those Southern sides ($22). And, about those Maker's Mark cold and wet ones we promised you . . . "A Kick from Ginger" adds a kick of Red Rock Ginger Ale; spicy pineapple cooler brings in fresh pineapple and jalapeño simple syrup; and Georgia peach lemonade mixes it up with Minute Maid lemonade, peach nectar, south Georgia cane and frozen peaches ($8-$10). Marlow's also has plenty of soothing beer and wine selections to help diffuse the bold tastes of "Ribs & Whiskey" dishes!
