Being Single Is Not An Excuse To Not Celebrate Valentine's Day This Year

Wednesday, January 26, 2011 0
As a single gal myself, Valentine's day is usually that holiday that I just roll my eyes at while I enjoy a bottle of wine. It's not that I am "anti-Valentine's Day", I just think there should be a party for all the single people on this day so we don't have to sit at home and watch those diamond ring commercials where it magically starts to snow and a diamond ring suddenly appears on the snowman (yes, it doesn't make sense and is never realistic). So instead of compiling a list of every restaurant that is doing a fabulous Valentine's dinner with champagne toasts, blah blah blah (which you can find a great list of those on @ATL_Events website), I decided to do something a little different for all my single ladies (and guys) out there. Here is a few things I have found happening in Midtown so that you don't have to sit at home watching diamond commercials:

The stars of the show include: Jennifer Levison, Chef Jessica Hanners,Joanna Burgess Hardy, Marcie Millard, Eric Miller, Nevin Miller, Rachel Miller, Merrideth Ziesse, and introducing Jeffrey Beavers and Kamisha Morrison!

There are two chances to see “Sex, Soup and That Schmuk Who Left You” – on Saturday, February 12, 2011, the doors open at 6:30 PM for dinner and the show starts at 7:30 PM; on Monday, February 14, 2011, the doors open at 7:00 PM for dinner and the show starts at 8:00 PM.

Pacci Ristorante Helps Furry Friends Find a Home

Friday, November 5, 2010 0

PACCI RISTORANTE HOSTS “HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS” EVENT FOR THE ATLANTA HUMANE SOCIETY
Pacci Ristorante, a Kimpton Restaurant, is hosting a “Home for the Holidays” pet adoption party for the Atlanta Humane Society (AHS) on Saturday, November 13. From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., the AHS adoption bus (holding several lovable animals in need of a new home) will be parked in front of the Midtown restaurant. Event attendees will have the opportunity to enjoy lunch and interact with the adoptable pups both on the bus and upstairs at AltoRex Rooftop Lounge.
“We are so excited to be partnering with the Atlanta Humane Society again,” says Pacci Ristorante Executive Chef Keira Moritz. “This organization does so much for the city’s pet population, and we feel honored to host this event,” she adds.
AHS has always been a cause that is close to Chef Moritz’s heart, as she is the happy owner of an adorable Border collie named Magnolia. As part of the adoption party, Moritz will be grilling out at AltoRex and offering $5 lunches that include a hamburger, chips and a can of soda or bottled water. All lunch proceeds will go directly to AHS. There will also be coffee, hot chocolate and apple cider available. For those guests interested in bringing their four-legged friends, Pacci will provide water and “Pacci Pups” (Chef Moritz’s famous homemade dog biscuits) for all.
In addition to hosting “Home for the Holidays,” Pacci is sponsoring three different AHS pups during the months of October, November and December. The restaurant will be taking care of the adoption fees for those who would like to give these three featured furry friends a loving home. October’s Pacci-sponsored pooch has already been snatched up, but November’s adoptee is ready to find some friendly owners.

Midtown Review: Pacci Ristorante Brunch

Wednesday, September 22, 2010 0

French Toast

Peachtree B&G

There is one thing I have learned about Atlanta that I never realized... brunch in this city is VERY popular! So many restaurants offer such incredible brunch options on the weekends here! Last Sunday morning I had the opportunity to try out Pacci Ristorante for a bridesmaid brunch! This was my first "brunch" in the city so I didn't know what to expect! I ordered the Peachtree B&G which is buttermilk biscuits with sausage gravy. I was expecting the traditional sausage gravy biscuits that I have had many, many times before. But this dish, exceeded far beyond my expectations in the fact that it was sooo different. It was like nothing I have ever tasted before! The gravy had this spicy taste and hearty warmth to it that left me suddenly regretting my promise to my friend that I would share it with her. My friend got the french toast with cinnamon butter, fresh berries and maple syrup. After tasting hers, I realized I could sacrifice a couple of my bites to share our plates. Prepared perfectly, not soggy, still had a bit of a crunch, with the warm maple syrup complimenting the cinnamon butter without being overly sweet. It was a great start to the day without me feeling like I had just eaten dessert. I wish I had gotten to try more items on their brunch menu such as the Eggs Abercrombie with poached eggs, house crab cakes, rucola and hollandaise, or the Wagyu Flat Iron & Eggs with two eggs, wagyu flat iron, basil pesto and potato hash. They have so many incredible brunch items to choose from and at reasonable prices. (And if you were lucky enough to score the ScoutMob you can get half off). Now that I understand the obsession with brunch in this town, I am already making plans for my next brunch stop this weekend. Hopefully I can fight off my cravings to go back to Pacci and choose a new restaurant to try :)

Pacci's Earth Day Menu

Tuesday, April 20, 2010 0

Pacci is passionate about preserving the environment and is celebrating the 40th anniversary of Earth Day on Thursday, April 22 with a special three-course menu from Chef Keira Moritz. The cost is $35 per person, excluding tax and gratuity, and will be offered that night only in addition to the regular menu.
Appetizers on the Earth Day menu include local greens with candied pecans, Sweet Grass Dairy goat cheese croutons, Georgia peach vinaigrette and port reduction; smoked Georgia shrimp crespelle with Lolla Rossa and tomato vinaigrette; and grilled plantation quail with corn pudding and arugula pesto. Entrée options include peanut crusted mountain trout with warm potato gnocchi and escarole salad; porcini dusted pork tenderloin medallions with wild mushroom ragout, truffle potato gratin and Marsala jus; and Springer Mountain chicken breast with grilled scallion and roasted tomato risotto and toasted garlic. The dessert course features pecan praline bread pudding with peach zabaione and peanut butter mascarpone cheesecake with Savannah tupelo honey.
The restaurant is also giving guests the opportunity to recycle and receive wine discounts with its Cork to Fork promotion in partnership with ReCORK America. To help ReCORK America obtain more corks for reuse, Pacci is asking patrons to bring in real corks from wine bottles and to buy a bottle of wine with their dinner. The restaurant will deduct 2 percent off the total bill for every cork brought in up to a maximum of 20 percent off. This offer is limited to natural cork wine closures only, and does not include plastic or metal closures. Wine cork closures are 100 percent natural, biodegradable and renewable, so this is another great way for Atlantans to embrace more sustainable living practices.
