Midtown Review: Moe's Original BBQ

Thursday, March 31, 2011

I recently made a trip to Auburn, Alabama where I went to school and saw they opened this new restaurant called Moe's Original BBQ downtown.  Unfortunately I didn't get a chance to go in Auburn, but it was so crowded that I knew I had to eventually try it out. So when I saw that a Moe's Original BBQ just opened in Atlanta as well, I was all on top of it!

Fat Matt's (a BBQ joint just down the road in Midtown) is one of the best BBQ places I have ever been to, it is seriously mouth watering. So I was excited to see what this new BBQ place called Moe's had to offer in comparison. Since it was so crowded in Auburn, I thought surely it had to be good.....well everyone in Auburn must have obviously been only drinking cause there is no way that place was that crowded just off the food. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't bad. It was good. Just good. The pulled pork sandwich was alright. Make sure to grab yourself some extra sauce because it seriously came out with almost none on it. Macaroni and cheese was honestly not impressive and even the sweet tea tasted like it was completely watered down. When you have a place like Fat Matt's just down the street, you really have to step your BBQ game up and Moe's Original BBQ just didn't.

I'll give Moe's Original BBQ credit for one thing though, they do have a cool atmosphere to go drink at and Thursday nights is Adult Trivia night with $2 domestic beers!

Fat Matt's is NOT just down the road and their BBQ is a joke, it's for people who don't know what real BBQ is. Of course Moe's will be even worse, it's a chain, corporate menu and corporate preparation. It's obvious you don't know BBQ or anything about food, writing about it makes you look even dumber. Just stick to your authentic deep fried cream cheese rolls at Ra Sushi.
