Being Single Is Not An Excuse To Not Celebrate Valentine's Day This Year

Wednesday, January 26, 2011
As a single gal myself, Valentine's day is usually that holiday that I just roll my eyes at while I enjoy a bottle of wine. It's not that I am "anti-Valentine's Day", I just think there should be a party for all the single people on this day so we don't have to sit at home and watch those diamond ring commercials where it magically starts to snow and a diamond ring suddenly appears on the snowman (yes, it doesn't make sense and is never realistic). So instead of compiling a list of every restaurant that is doing a fabulous Valentine's dinner with champagne toasts, blah blah blah (which you can find a great list of those on @ATL_Events website), I decided to do something a little different for all my single ladies (and guys) out there. Here is a few things I have found happening in Midtown so that you don't have to sit at home watching diamond commercials:

Fun is in the Cards: Pacci Ristorante Hosts Queen of Hearts Social Featuring Blane Bachelor on Feb. 10
Advice Columnist Makes an Appearance at Midtown Restaurant Just in Time for Valentine’s Day
On Thursday, February 10, Pacci Ristorante is hosting its second annual “Queen of Hearts” cocktail party in the restaurant’s bar area from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. The event is free of charge and will feature complimentary appetizers, drink specials, free tarot card readings, raffle prizes and a chance to have relationship questions answered by Atlanta-based author and syndicated advice columnist Blane Bachelor. In keeping with the playing card theme, guests are encouraged to wear red if they are fond of Valentine’s Day and black if they are not fond of the holiday.
In addition to the chance to have their relationship questions answered by Blane, attendees will also have the opportunity to participate in the Queen of Hearts card raffle where they will draw from a deck to win prizes that correspond with the suit and number they pick. Prizes will include dinner for two at Pacci, a cocktail party at AltoRex Rooftop Lounge for six people, gift baskets with wine and Chef Keira Moritz’s tapenade, and a brunch for up to six guests at Pacci.
For more information about Pacci, call 678-412-2402 or visit www.pacciatlanta.com. For more information about Blane Bachelor, visit http://www.askabachelor.com/.

Blackout Valentine's Day Party at Cypress Street Pint and Plate

Souper Jenny Presents: “Sex, Soup and That Schmuck That Left You…A Valentine’s Cabaret” – Saturday, February 12 & Monday, February 14, 2011

Coming up this weekend, Souper Jenny’s gang will greet you with a song – a whole lot of them – during their two-night run for “Sex, Soup and that Schmuck That Left You… A Valentine’s Cabaret”. Because Levison and her colleagues are professional actors who perform throughout the Atlanta area throughout the year, they will serenade you with their brand of love song – funny, often irreverent, always entertaining. What better way to spend Valentine’s Day than with dinner & dessert from Souper Jenny, parody, live music and plenty of dysfunction! The stars of the show include: Jennifer Levison, Chef Jessica Hanners,Joanna Burgess Hardy, Marcie Millard, Eric Miller, Nevin Miller, Rachel Miller, Merrideth Ziesse, and introducing Jeffrey Beavers and Kamisha Morrison!

There are two chances to see “Sex, Soup and That Schmuk Who Left You” – on Saturday, February 12, 2011, the doors open at 6:30 PM for dinner and the show starts at 7:30 PM; on Monday, February 14, 2011, the doors open at 7:00 PM for dinner and the show starts at 8:00 PM.
Tickets are $60 per person and include dinner, Souper Jenny-style, dessert, and of course, the show. A cash bar is available. Reservations are required – just call (404) 237-7687 or e-mail souperjennys@aol.com. (http://twitter.com/#!/365Atlanta)

*I will be adding more events as we get closer to Valentine's Day so keep checking back!*
