Vinyl Concert Benefiting Children's Tumor Foundation
Friday night there is a great benefit concert going on at Vinyl to benefit the Children's Tumor Foundation. The event will feature performances by Atlanta's own Tealights and The Modern Skirts, a band from Athens, Ga. The event is being put on by an amazing group of people called The Tumornators, who's goal is to raise money for research to help find a cure for diseases that affect the nervous system. Dozens of wild and crazy characters will be lurking in the woods at the Atlanta Botanical Garden throughout October. For the ninth year, approximately 100 life-size creations, from the witty and whimsical to the bold and bizarre will make up the display. Designs of metro area residents, artists, designers, businesses and organizations, which compete for prizes in one of two design categories: professional and nonprofessional. The scarecrows will be displayed throughout the woodland and children’s gardens, and on Thursday evenings, visitors can check them out under the glare of flashlights (which they are encouraged to bring) during Fest of Ale.

An improvisational survival guide for tweenagers! It’s not easy being ‘tween. But thankfully, a team of four middle school students is here to help guide you through the maze of locker rooms, 8th grade dances, book reports and cafeteria blues. Filled with music and improv, Middle School the Musical is the Alliance’s first truly interactive show for children and families.
