Midtown Review: Twisted Taco

Friday, January 15, 2010

I have been to the Twisted Taco in Roswell and have loved it. Great food, great atmosphere, great service, pretty much have never had any complaints. So today for lunch some coworkers and I decided to go to Twisted Taco in Midtown for lunch. This location is much smaller than the Roswell or Kennesaw location but has a great city feel to it! We were seated in this back room. It felt awkward sitting here because there were only 3 tables bunched together next to some arcade games. I honestly could have turned and started a conversation with the table right next to us. Our waitress must have been serving the whole restaurant because she was very busy; always running around and making quick orders which made me feel extremely rushed. We ordered some chips and salsa for the table (which you have to pay for... it isnt complementary like other restaurants) but it was a combination plate of 3 different salsas and chips and was pretty good. I then ordered some queso dip for myself but when it came it was soo cold. Seriously it was so cold I wondered how the cheese could still be a liquid! So I asked if they could heat it up. When it came back it was scolding hot and bubbling. Well I guess I got what I asked for, but it would have been nice if they could have found a medium in between the two temperatures. I personally ordered for my meal a regular chicken and cheese taco with NOTHING else on it. That's it! You would think that would be simple. When it came it was cheese and chicken and this spicy sauce that they drenched the taco in. It was gross, and I barely ate any of it. I didn't even take a picture of it because it looked like taco soup because there was so much spicy sauce. My coworkers meal looked really good so I took a picture of his. It looks like they give a pretty generous portion of guacamole and sour cream with the salad. He said that salad had way too much dressing on it but was wonderful and would definitely order it again. We arrived at Twisted Taco at 12:30 for lunch and didn't pay our check till 1:45. The food took FOREVER to make. I would have thought being located in the center of a city they would have a faster lunch for business people (like me) who only have a certain amount of time to eat. But no, our meal took one hour and 15 minutes! I'm hoping that my experience with Twisted Taco in Midtown was just a coincedence and that this really doesn't happen to everyone that comes through their door!
