Midtown Review: Dressed "Salads With Style"

Wednesday, January 13, 2010

I always crave salads but have always had a hard time finding a great salad that is quick and easy. I always end up going through a drive thru joint with the intentions of ordering one of their salads... but as soon as I get up to order, I smell that fried goodness and always end up ordering something completely unhealthy for myself. So when I heard of Dressed in Midtown, I thought that it was a great idea. The delivery of healthy salads! Of course, you can eat inside at their location, but I chose to have it delivered for lunch. To begin with, delivery orders must be at least $10 which kinda stinks when one of their salads is around $7-$9. So I decided to order two (since I had a coupon) and decided I would just eat the second one tomorrow. If you take a look at their online delivery menu (http://www.dressedsalads.com/delivery.asp) you can see the array of choices they have to offer for your salad. Five different kinds of greens to choose from, 55 toppings to choose from (you get to pick 4 toppings per salad; any additional is 50 cents), 12 different types of meat (these are additional $ as well), and 24 different dressings to top off your self-built salad. The toppings include an array of items such as crispy chinese noodles, mandarin oranges, dried cherries, sliced almonds, grilled asparagus, sundried tomatoes, artichoke hearts, and many, many more. The variety of meat options include grilled chicken, cajun chicken, grilled steak, ham, salami, turkey, tofu, egg whites, and thick cute bacon. And finally the dressings range from a delicious blueberry pomegranate vinaigrette to a dijon wasabi ginger vinaigrette and everything in between!

So after reading carefully over all the options, I decided on my salad. Baby spinach with raisens, dried cherries, grapes, and sliced almonds with the blueberry pomegranate vinaigrette dressing on the side. I called and placed my order around noon hoping that the salad would arrive within 30 minutes (it is of course delivery for a reason), but the salad did not arrive until almost an hour later which disappointed me. I became "too hungry" for a salad. Weird I know, but sometimes I just get so hungry that I want a big, juicy cheeseburger instead. So finally, after waiting the salad was finally delivered. The delivery man was very nice and welcoming. I received my salad and rushed to the kitchen because I was STARVING. But luckily this salad wasn't the kind where you receive a boat full of lettuce with a few toppings sprinkled on top. No, this salad was heavy and full of toppings. So many toppings that I ultimately ate all the lettuce and had plenty of toppings left in the bottom (you never see that happen). The salad was wonderful and fresh and the fruits were the perfect compliment.

The only downside to Dressed were the pricy salads. Yes I know that $8 isn't that much but when my salad only contains lettuce, raisens, cherries, and grapes it can be kind of pricy to order often. I also didn't like how long it took to deliver the salad. I usually order delivery because (1) I dont have time to drive to a restaurant and (2) I like the convenience of having it delivered to my door. I could have probably driven to Dressed, eaten in the restaurant, and driven back to work by the time the delivery guy showed up at my door with the salad.

But overall, I truly enjoyed the salad from Dressed and would order from them again. The salad was wonderful and delicious. You can't really see the toppings in the picture because they are all sitting in the bottom because there are so many that its so heavy. It is also is sized enough for 2 meals. But mine was so delicious I couldnt stop eating it (which rarely happens for me with a salad.)

Dressed has 3 locations in the Atlanta area; Midtown, Buckhead and Perimeter. I have also attached the coupon for $2 off Dressed which is good through 1/31/2010. Feel free to use it and let me know how your Dressed experience was!
